Your FilmOpen account
A FilmOpen account connects your identity on the website and in versions of the application that include account sign-in. You can continue working with local projects without an account.
Sign in or create an account
Section titled “Sign in or create an account”Open Your account and choose one of the available sign-in methods. Your first successful sign-in creates an account; subsequent sign-ins return to it.
GitHub sign-in is available now. Google, Discord, and email sign-in are being configured and will appear when ready.
With email sign-in, enter your email address, then type the code from your inbox. Use the newest code and wait a minute between requests. With a social provider, complete sign-in in your browser and return to FilmOpen. You do not need to create a Supabase account.
Use the same account in the app
Section titled “Use the same account in the app”In a build with account support, open Settings → FilmOpen account and use the same sign-in method as on the website. Social sign-in opens your system browser and returns to the installed application. Each device has its own session.
If your installed version does not include the account section yet, you can use the website account while continuing to work locally.
Your account and your data
Section titled “Your account and your data”Your account stores your sign-in identity and the display name you choose. Your email is not a public profile. Creating an account does not upload project files, media, or the provider keys stored in the desktop application.
Authentication is managed by Supabase and your chosen sign-in provider. FilmOpen requests basic identity information from Google, Discord, or GitHub; GitHub sign-in does not require access to your repositories. Do not post passwords, codes, or private account information in public Issues or Discussions.
Connected methods
Section titled “Connected methods”Your account page lists the methods connected to your account. Where connecting another method is available, start from the signed-in account page. Providers using different email addresses can otherwise create separate accounts. Do not assume two accounts have merged because they use similar names.
Recover access
Section titled “Recover access”Use another method already connected to your account, or use an email code if email sign-in is available for your account. If a social account is inaccessible, its provider’s recovery process can restore access. A FilmOpen display name or project author handle is not proof of account ownership.
If a browser callback has expired or was opened elsewhere, return to sign-in and start again in the browser or app you want to use. Keep sign-in codes private.
Sign out
Section titled “Sign out”Sign out here ends this browser’s session. Sign out on all devices also revokes other sessions’ ability to refresh; their existing access tokens can remain valid until they expire. Signing out does not delete your local projects.
